Tillamook Air Museum

Continuing on through our spring break travels we got up Tuesday morning in Tillamook and set out for the Air Museum.  

The museum is in a huge hanger built during WWII to house blimps.  We watched a movie that told about the construction of the hanger (said to be the biggest wood structure in the world).  There were 2 hangers built - the 2nd one in only 29 days!  One of them burned to the ground in 1992 and the one that still stands houses several old war planes. 

The kids had a blast touring the place and crawling into the cockpits that they were allowed to get into.

This plane (pictured with the kids standing in front) was one of the strangest we saw.  

It is called a "Mini-Guppy" and it was made so the plane opens in half so helicopters or other large items can be loaded inside and transported.  This is the inside of it.

Haystack Rock and Tillamook Cheese Factory

Starting Monday we headed down the Oregon coast to explore some new things as a family.  We had beautiful weather Monday and got out of the car at Haystack Rock to take this picture.  

The sun was shining in their eyes so the kids had a hard time looking at the camera.  Next we headed down to Tillamook where we explored the Cheese Factory.  

Our family went there last year and was very excited to return and watch the fascinating process of cheese packaging and sampling.  We enjoyed the squeaky cheese and ice cream cones that we sampled.  We even ran into a friend from Cathlamet there. 

It was delicious!

Spring Break FUN!

Our spring break started off with a visit from our good friends the McFarland family.  We went with them down to Cape Disappointment.  It was rather windy and rainy that day but still a fun time with good friends!  In the pic below, the kids are enjoying the apple pie that Diana made and shared with us.

Mouse Trap and a Silly Boy

I was playing Mouse Trap with the girls and looked over at Rylan who was spectating and noticed him making some funny faces.  When he saw me taking his picture his smile came out too!

More presents

Lila received more birthday presents today in the mail and she was so EXCITED!John, Amy and Grace sent a My Little Pony with a movie - can you tell Alaina is excited about that too?  Lila loves the castle Aunt Tami picked out . . . and the littlest pet shop that Rachel and Jessica sent.  Grandma and Grandpa, the outfit fits PERFECT!  The flip flops too!  I don't have a picture of it but she also got a bag that matches another piece of luggage she received for Christmas from Neil and Raquel.  (N&R - I went ahead and gave Emily and Alaina theirs early because we will use them when we take a trip during spring break.)  They LOVE them. Thank you for all the great gifts!  Lila is a HAPPY girl.

Happy Birthday Lila!

Sunday was Lila's 4th birthday!  Her birthday celebration has been spread out over a couple of days since Sundays are full of church activities.  Friday we took her out to Chuck E Cheese's for pizza and games.  She had a ball.  Sunday evening before we had youth group we had cake and ice cream and Lila opened her presents from us.  Last night Grandma and Grandpa came for dinner and at Lila's request we had a pajama party (for my kids that entails putting on your pjs and watching a movie together).   We should have more pics to post later when G&G Far Away's package comes in the mail.  Little Lila, you are a sweetie!  We love you and thank God for blessing us with you!

Caught Red-Handed - or in this case . . .Wet-Handed

I looked out the window the other day to see this . . . 

Now this is something which isn't all together evil, but something I have warned my kids against doing - because it tends to make a mess - of the kid involved as well as my garden.

Doesn't he look like he is having fun emptying the water from my fountain?  Since it would be refilled by the rain that would likely fall from the sky very soon I let him have his fun before I knocked on the window.  

Gulp!  Caught red-handed!

This is the look I received when he realized he was caught playing in Mommy's fountain, but he is hoping to charm his way out of getting in trouble.  'I'm just watering your plants, Mom!'

I know its sad, but . . . it worked!   He didn't get in trouble.
